It always sounds nuts, but when you actually check the question – am I afraid of joy? – you’ll find the evidence.

The simple truth is that,

if your life doesn’t have a baseline of joy, then you’re afraid of it.

You might have a surface appearance of a smile, but it doesn’t go deep. You don’t truly feel it in your being. It’s like a mini version of joy to appear socially acceptable.

Something in you is resisting feeling true joy, believing it dangerous, making you afraid of it.

When you want more joy, all that’s needed is to recognise the fact that life’s not as joyful as you want, and then decide what you want to do about it.
