Great leaders respond instead of react

We all react sometimes. But if you’re reacting consistently. If you can’t let go and move on. If you’re hard on yourself because of all that – you’re in the midst of internal pressure.

The global turbulence I wrote about last week is an example of external pressure.

The more you’ve handled your sources of internal pressure, the more easily and effectively you deal with any external pressure.

As a leader, there are alot of sources of external pressure:

  • back-to-back meetings
  • people demanding your time
  • changes in markets, supply chains, tech systems
  • relationship problems with peers, team members, investors
  • an unhappy partner because of the amount you’re working
  • needing work done on the house…more money needed
  • your kids and their challenges – behavioural or emotional
  • the global markets, politics, and systems…

…there are endless sources of external pressure.

Which means that – until you deal with your sources of internal pressure – things will continue to get worse – emotionally, physically, relationally, professionally.

Internal pressure shows up as:

  • reactivity
  • short tempered
  • impatient
  • stressed
  • controlling
  • blaming
  • judging
  • critical inner voice
  • can’t let things go
  • taking it personally

What could be possible for you if you felt grounded, clear, and empowered in the face of external pressure?

Watch this video all about this topic:

Internal stability, even when there’s external pressure, is your strongest position.

It starts with a conversation.
