How To See Where to Clean Up

Imposter syndrome – gone…fear of conflict – gone…
addiction to the phone – gone.

Previously I invited you to raise your standards beyond what you might accept as ‘only human’ or ‘just how it is’.

Sometimes – when you’ve been circling in the same stories for so long – it can be hard to see what’s available for cleaning up. It looks like it’s just who you are, or how things have to be.

So today – some book recommendations that have been valuable to me along the way.

With each of these, I wasn’t interested in the solutions they offered, but they were all amazing at revealing negative, self sabotaging patterns. Then I got to say – ‘what do I want to do about this?’

The books…

1. Women Who Love Too Much

Not in fact just for women to read. A very insightful book about the people pleasing, over giving, and acceptance of shit relationships when you’ve had some level of trauma in your childhood. [Please note – trauma can happen in contexts that look superficially acceptable. What matters is how it made you feel in the experience of it. So please don’t discount yourself if your trauma isn’t ‘bad enough’ to be included.]

2. Unbound by Kasia Urbaniak

For the people who shrink, hold back, don’t dare speak up and state what they want or need. The people who are afraid of conflict or confrontation. People who want to step up and out in their boldness. Again, aimed at women, but I believe all will benefit.

3. Outwitting The Devil by Napoleon Hill

An account of someone in conversation with ‘the devil’. I guess like “Conversations With God”, except with the opposition! You can personify the devil and god all you like but to me they are energies and ways of being and this book was brilliant at articulating how we are at the seeming mercy of the cunning devil – until we take charge of our own life again. A great way to make visible all the everyday negativity that you think is ‘just how it is’ but which you can get free from.

4. Causism by John Mace

Although not primarily intended as a book to highlight patterns of negativity, it no doubt can and does. Even if the revealing of those patterns comes about because of a negative reaction to the book itself or to John’s writing style. I recorded a video about this a while back in case the book was bugging you! Buy this book direct from me here.

After reading, and revealing your patterns…

Ask – What do I want to do about that?’

As I said, I wasn’t interested in the solutions offered in the books. Most of them involve trying to change at the level of behaviour change – the lowest leverage point we have.

Others offered solutions I’d tried which hadn’t got to the source of the problem.

That’s why I kept looking till I found The Mace Energy Method.

I was determined to solve the root cause that was preventing my authentic, natural expression.

Want to get authentic too?

“Having struggled with imposter syndrome at work for as long as I can remember the sensation of having become Teflon coated when faced with the ‘slights’ of others has been wonderful. I no longer hear a criticism of my work in everything others say, I don’t immediately think it’s my failure/worthlessness when something has gone wrong and when someone is having a pop at me, I see their insecurities and sit safe in the knowledge I have done my best.

Before my Mace sessions my mindless phone scrolling was off the charts. I knew why I was doing it but still I continued. After Mace that constant urge to pick up the phone has gone. I still pick up my phone and look at socials but much less often and for a shorter time.

I feel much lighter in the face of conflict. Previously, I would be paralysed by aggression directed at me but after Mace I find myself more able to stand strong in the face of the anger of others.

In general, life feels much easier since my Mace sessions with Helen. I face the world with a sense of lightness that wasn’t present before, feeling more grounded in my true self.”
