“Push through – it’s just part of scaling.”
I disagree.
If you’re already overwhelmed and heading towards burnout, more pushing is the last thing you need.
One of my clients thought he’d cracked the code. Work till 1am so he could be present with his family in the evenings. Best of both worlds, right?
Then he crashed. Mental and physical breakdown.
Here’s what I see again and again:
The “strongest” founders – the ones who pride themselves on handling everything – are often the ones who push until something suddenly explodes.
They think “that won’t happen to me, I’m built different.”
Until it does.
The advice to push through assumes the pushing feeling is inevitable. That it’s the price of scaling.
It’s not.
You can remove what’s causing that relentless pressure in the first place.
You still get to do everything you need to do to scale. You don’t have to do it like you’re competing for a medal in suffering.
There are no winners if you burn out.
Taking action now – to remove the source, not just manage the symptoms – prevents the explosion.
If you’re running on empty and telling yourself ‘it’s fine, I’m strong, it won’t happen to me’…get in touch.
