So Richard Branson’s experimenting with Netflix’s ‘no holiday policy’ approach.

I love that he’s trying something different to see if it gets different results.

I wonder what different approaches people will take when putting it into practice –

1. Work constantly with no holiday (or just the statutory minimum) to avoid things falling apart, or to get that promotion, or both. read more

I was so pleased to see this post from David Goddin of Change Continuum.

My background in Boots, with a leadership approach founded in Steve Radcliffe’s ‘Future, Engage, Deliver’, taught me that leadership is everywhere. It’s not about title. It’s not about status. It’s about how everyone shows up every day. It’s about how everyone contributes for the same purpose. And it’s about how everyone takes responsibility for making things better. It’s also about everyone playing a role in supporting and developing others – it’s not just your manager / leader who should give you feedback on how you’re doing and the impact you’re having on those around you – for better or worse! read more

The other day I was in a well-known DIY store (although it could have been in any one of the big retailers).  I couldn’t find the light bulbs I was looking for so I went to the front to ask for help.  There was a lady standing near the entrance, someone in a ‘greeter’ type of role – perfect!  And she was very helpful, took me to the desk to check stock levels and then took me to where it was in store. read more
